My Story:
Bowie was discovered surrounded by a litter of puppies in a remote area of Bakersfield, California, far from any residential areas. He was protective of the puppies, but given the threats facing this vulnerable family, we felt compelled to step in and ensure their safety, which turned out to be quite challenging. After several hours in the sweltering heat, we successfully rescued Bowie along with the six puppies.

Bowie is an affectionate and fluffy companion who thrives on the warmth of human interaction and the playful antics of his fellow dogs. With a gentle demeanor and a wagging tail that seems to have a life of its own, he eagerly seeks out the company of those around him.

Rescue Partners
One of the most critical needs for our team are partners with the ability to help house Bakersfield Strays dogs upon being picked up. We have limited space and ability to hold them for long periods of time and our expertise is more generally suited for partnerships with larger private adoption agencies that can become a liaison between us and the forever homes of the dogs. We do have a process for becoming a partner that ensures they are going to remain happy and healthy in loving homes.
