MELONI

Name: MELONI
Age: 9
Sex: Female
Weight: 55
Breed: Pittbull Mix
Reproductive: Spayed
Vaccinations: Fully Vaccinated
Microchipped: Yes
My Story:
During one of the routine feeding sessions in the Bakersfield and Lamont area, one of our volunteer encountered a gentle, older female pitbull mix, Meloni, who seemed to be desperately seeking both food and companionship in a desolate environment.
The sight of the dog, with her soulful eyes and wagging tail, was heart-wrenching; she chased after the volunteer’s car, as if she understood that help was within reach. The volunteer felt an overwhelming surge of empathy as she witnessed the dog’s plight, and without hesitation, she opened the car door.
In an instant, Meloni leaped inside, her gratitude showing as she nestled close, ready to embrace the warmth and safety that had eluded her.
Meloni’s tale is a heartbreaking one; she was found with a microchip linking her to previous owners and had been adopted from the Kern County Shelter. Despite the shelter’s efforts to reach out to her owners and our own attempts to locate them, no one has come forward to claim her.
About Me:
Meloni is an affectionate dog with a heart full of love for both people and her fellow canines. Her gentle nature make her a delightful companion, and thrives on interaction, eagerly seeking out the company of those around her, whether it’s a friendly human or another dog to play with.
A home that can provide her with the love and engagement she craves would be the perfect setting for her to live out her days happily.
Meloni’s ideal family would be one that understands her need for connection and is ready to shower her with the affection she so richly deserves.
My Status: Fostered

Rescue Partners
One of the most critical needs for our team are partners with the ability to help house Bakersfield Strays dogs upon being picked up. We have limited space and ability to hold them for long periods of time and our expertise is more generally suited for partnerships with larger private adoption agencies that can become a liaison between us and the forever homes of the dogs. We do have a process for becoming a partner that ensures they are going to remain happy and healthy in loving homes. If you are interested in helping us overcome this crisis and you have the ability to facilitate the adoption process n our behalf, please apply to become one of our valued partners. You can find the steps to doing so at the link below.
