Bakersfield Strays Dog Rescue Success Stories
Dog rescue success stories. The profiles below feature dogs that have been adopted by a loving family or placed with an animal rescue partner. If a dog is with a rescue partner, they may still need a permanent home. If you’re interested in adopting one of these dogs, we’re happy to provide more information on a specific dog or connect you with our adoption partner. If you need some additional information on how to care for your rescue dog you can check out some of our blogs about nurturing their health.
ABBY
Name: ABBY
Age: 14 m
Sex: Female
Weight: 48
Breed: Hound mix
Reproductive: Spayed
Vaccinations: Fully Vaccinated
Microchipped: Yes
My Story:
Abby was dumped in a field in 110* temperatures with no shade. She was extremely emaciated and terrified. She didn’t budge from where she was dumped for three days. Maybe hoping they would come back. But they didn’t. Refusing to even move to go into the trap. After attempting to secure her in various ways, we were finally able to get her in the trap using Sardines. She seems to like fish. This poor girl was so scared that she barked out of fear the whole time but after getting her home she melted into a grateful Angel just begging for human affection. She was found with a microchip and already spayed. Her owners have not come for her.
About Me:
Abby is very, very sweet. A little shy at first but comes out of her shell very quickly. She loves to be loved on and also walks good on a leash. We are still letting her relax after her horrific ordeal and will find out more about this amazing girl soon. She will be looking for a family that will commit to her and love her- for life.

Rescue Partners
One of the most critical needs for our team are partners with the ability to help house Bakersfield Strays dogs upon being picked up. We have limited space and ability to hold them for long periods of time and our expertise is more generally suited for partnerships with larger private adoption agencies that can become a liaison between us and the forever homes of the dogs. We do have a process for becoming a partner that ensures they are going to remain happy and healthy in loving homes. If you are interested in helping us overcome this crisis and you have the ability to facilitate the adoption process n our behalf, please apply to become one of our valued partners. You can find the steps to doing so at the link below.
