Bakersfield Strays Dog Rescue Success Stories
Dog rescue success stories. The profiles below feature dogs that have been adopted by a loving family or placed with an animal rescue partner. If a dog is with a rescue partner, they may still need a permanent home. If you’re interested in adopting one of these dogs, we’re happy to provide more information on a specific dog or connect you with our adoption partner. If you need some additional information on how to care for your rescue dog you can check out some of our blogs about nurturing their health.
MATISSE
Name: MATISSE
Age: 2
Sex: Female
Weight: 16
Breed: Maltese Mix
Reproductive: Spayed
Vaccinations: Fully Vaccinated
Microchipped: Yes
My Story:
Matisse was found running for her life, desperately trying to survive after being abandoned. This poor furry girl found herself in one dangerous situation after another — narrowly escaping machinery, fleeing into the canal to get away from the farmers, and fighting every day just to stay alive.
But finally, her story changed. She was secured.
About Me:
After a much-needed grooming session, Matisse got a whole new outlook on life—and her adorable personality finally began to shine!
She may be a little timid at first, but give her just a little time and she quickly warms up into the sweetest little lovebug. Matisse enjoys being around people and gets along with other dogs, making her a wonderful companion waiting for someone to give her the love and patience she deserves. Now, all Matisse needs is a family to call her own.
She’s ready for her furever home! Could you be the one to give this sweet girl the happy ending she’s been waiting for?
My Status: Adopted

Rescue Partners
One of the most critical needs for our team are partners with the ability to help house Bakersfield Strays dogs upon being picked up. We have limited space and ability to hold them for long periods of time and our expertise is more generally suited for partnerships with larger private adoption agencies that can become a liaison between us and the forever homes of the dogs. We do have a process for becoming a partner that ensures they are going to remain happy and healthy in loving homes. If you are interested in helping us overcome this crisis and you have the ability to facilitate the adoption process n our behalf, please apply to become one of our valued partners. You can find the steps to doing so at the link below.
